積み木のように組み合わせる”個人の感性を受け入れるオブジェ”

Wood mortar objectは、家具の制作過程に発生する木屑とモルタルを混ぜ合わせることで人肌のような色と石のような質感の素材を生み出し、それらを即興的な形状に固めることでオブジェクトをはじめ、キャンドルホルダーやプレートといった用途を想定したシリーズです。

その中で新しくデザインされた『Your relief』は3つのブロックからなり、それらを個人の感性によって積み木のように組み合わせることで様々な形状のオブジェクトを自ら生み出すことができる作品。

多くのオブジェクトはあらかじめ決まった形状があり、それらをデイスプレイすることで完結しますが、『Your relief』は形状自体が変化し、シチュエーションや気分によってその組み合わせを変えることも、それぞれのブロックを別々の場所に置くこともできるユニークなオブジェクトです。

一見全くのランダムな形状のように見えるブロックにはぴったりと合致する場所がどこかに隠されていますので、理想の組み合わせを探す楽しみもあり、自ら手を動かすことの重要性を教えてくれる作品です。
